Background and construction of spreadthesign
Introduction to Spreadthesign
Spreadthesign.com is an international dictionary where we make all the sign languages of the world accessible. This pedagogic self-learning tool is free to use for all in the world. The fantasy sets the limits of the use of this dictionary. Primarily we were doing it to improve our vocational pupil’s language skills when going abroad for work practice. Between October 2006 and October 2010 we uploaded words several vocational fields into the dictionary. New for 2012 are improved functions and more countries as well as more words for each partner to translate. Spreadthesign.com will also have more sentences and not only single words/sign. We are constantly enlarging our partnership with new countries and new sponsors of this free web tool. Each country represented has its team with responsibility for their language in this web site. If they are not the experts themselves it is their responsibility to connect sign language experts or proofreading. The national teams are easy to contact with comments and suggestions. Spreadthesign.com helps thousands of people every day to find the sign they are searching for. It is also available in smartphones under the name of Spread signs. Do you want to join your country and organization in this documentation work? Please contact coordinator Thomas Lydell-Olsen. Thank you for using spreadthesign.com, a product from European Sign language Centre.
