Welcome to Spreadthesign

Spread the sign is a international Leonardo da Vinci pilot project, which is supported by European Commission thru the Swedish International Programme Office of Education and Training. We are working with spreading sign language from different countries on the Internet. This pedagogic self-learning tool is free to use for all in the world. The fantasy sets the limits of the use of this dictionary. Primarily we are doing it to improve our vocational pupils language skills when going abroad for work practise. Between October 2006 and October 2008 are two vocational fields going to be recorded. Woodwork/carpentering/house building and restaurant/cooking.

How to make this web page?

How to make this web page? Hire a coordinator, a local administrator, a data base expert and an animation and graphic expert. Get interested partners from different countries. Partners who are for example universities, deaf schools or deaf organisations. The over coordinator see to it that all partners are on the budget and do their work agreed upon. Prepare the meetings and next step in the project. Also have the contact with the main fund sponsor of the project, European Commission thru the Swedish International Office for Education and Training. The local administrator makes the over all production (in Sweden) happened thru flexibility, creativity and a whip. The data base expert creates the platform on the web page and all the functions we want. The animation and graphics expert ad the little extra to the web page so it dont look like a boring governmental web page. Together with the partner countries of the project we:

  • Decide a number of signs that we want to have

  • Choose the words

  • Gather the signs nationally in each partner country

  • Connect other sign language experts in each country to the project for proofreading

  • Have the same technical equipment

  • Start to record the signs nationally with volunteer pupils as actors

  • Edit the video material in the computors

  • Ad the video files into the web page database, each country by them selves

  • Ad pictures to the web page to most of the words, to get extra understanding by the user.

  • Let our national partners and experts proofread the sign language to see if it is all right.

  • Record all the signs that have to be changed due to proofreading and bad quality in picture.

  • The we all cross our fingers and hope hope hope that it will work and look nice.
